Farewell and "see y'all later!"

Postby Don Alexander » Fri Jul 02, 2010 5:13 pm

Thought I'd say a farewell to all my running friends in this topic area since I haven't run for 8 days  with "piriformis"...deep lower back pushing on the sciatic. I'm recovering well and thank God for medical technology and the phamaceuticals! LOL! I'll be up and running soon and will miss so many here...especially:

- Clark Ave Sunday runners...you guys are encouraging AND inspiring! I'm going to go through withdrawals until I find a Sunday group--maybe I'll start one!
- Staff of GCRC...thankless jobs sometimes and we all owe you over the years.
- Volunteers at races...a "thankful" job and hundreds of thanks for the water, etc, etc, etc...
- Mentors...for advice and feedback

I'll see many of you at the annual ATR in the Spring and who knows...maybe a Gulf Coast Classic or Coast Marathon. I know I'll see many at the MCM and other marathons. I'll remain a member because I believe in the quality, cost-effective program this club has for all on the coast...there are so many spin-off events as well from members to keep this coast healthy and motivated--well done!

Don it has been over a year since I moved from the Coast and I still have withdrawals. The Clark Street runners are the absolute best group of people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting with once a week for some good running and talking. The experinces shared and life lessons learned on those sunday morning sessions far exceed any I have learned from one particular group. I plan on being back for a run with them in the future and can not wait until I can share a slice of apple pie with Don and the rest of them again.
